The Lancaster Community Choir was set up in October 2009 by Simon Lubkowski and Katie Randon, who both work at The Lancaster School in Knighton, Leicester.

After the success of the BBC2 documentary “The Choir: Boys Don’t Sing” (which saw professional choirmaster Gareth Malone come to the boys school and set up a choir) The Lancaster Community Choir was formed and it is going from strength to strength.

The choir currently has over 150 members, as well as a junior choir and a free Kids Club for children aged 4-9.

The choir is open to everyone in the local community (with a few members from a little bit further afield!) – regardless of age, previous singing experience or musical ability. We do not ask that you are able to read music, all we ask is that you want to sing!

We sing a wide range of music, and try to cater to all ages/preferences in our choices of new songs for the choir. Our repertoire so far includes…

     “Tears In Heaven” (Eric Clapton)

     “Emmanuel” (trad.)

“Pearl Of Africa” (traditional Ugandan choral piece)

     “Gloria” (Vivaldi)

     “Viva La Vida” (Coldplay)

"Where is the Love?" (Black Eyed Peas)

… and we are currently working on a whole new set of songs for the Summer term.
